Jansen captures first singles gold since 2021
ATASCOCITA, TX - For the first time in almost three years, Lea Jansen is a singles champion on the PPA Tour.
She beat surprise finalist Samantha Parker 11-3, 11-2 to secure the victory.
Jansen has been a staple on the singles podium throughout her pickleball career, and she credits her focus on the mental aspect of the game for helping her get another gold.
“After Desert Ridge, I kind of had to take a long look in the mirror—both on and off court—and I’ve made a lot of changes to be here," she said. "It’s been a hard journey, but I’m happy for it.”
This great day for Jansen (she also picked up bronze in women’s doubles with Tina Pisnik) caps off what turned into a great week for Samantha Parker.
The 25-year-old is now signed with the United Pickleball Association after her run on Thursday, where she picked up impressive victories over Mary Brascia and Lacy Schneemann en route to the final.
