# How to Close and Lock a Bracket in PT

Once all matches in an event are complete, you close and lock the bracket in Pickleball Tournaments (PT). This finalizes results, assigns medals, and marks the event as done. If a scoring error is found after locking, you can unlock to make corrections within 5 days of the tournament concluding.

## How to close and lock a bracket

1. From your Live Console, locate the event under the **Running** tab.
2. Once every match has a result entered, click the red **Complete & Verify Medal Assignment** button.
3. Review the pre-determined medal standings and verify they are correct.
4. Click **Save & Complete Event**. The event moves to the **Completed** tab.

> **Recommended:** Complete & Verify Medal Assignment is only available once every match in the event has a score entered. If the button is unavailable, check for matches with missing results. If an event was canceled due to weather or another reason, you must cancel those matches before the bracket can be completed.

> **Warning:** Only completed brackets are included in DUPR ratings. If a bracket is not completed properly, those results will not count toward player ratings.

## How to unlock and correct scores

If a scoring error is found within 5 days of the tournament concluding:

1. Go to the event in the **Completed** tab.
2. Click **Options** next to the event name.
3. Select **Unlock All Scores**. This allows score corrections without deleting any existing results.
4. Make the necessary corrections.
5. **Re-lock the event** when done by completing the event again.

> **Warning:** Do not use Start Over/Un-Verify to correct scores — that option deletes all results. Use Unlock All Scores instead.

## Frequently asked questions

### Why isn't the Complete & Verify button available?

The Complete & Verify Medal Assignment button only appears when every match in the event has a result. Check for any matches showing as incomplete or unscored and resolve them first.

### How do I fix a score after locking the bracket?

Use Unlock All Scores from the event Options menu in the Completed tab. This does not delete scores — it opens them for editing. Once corrections are made, complete the event again to re-lock.

### What's the difference between Unlock All Scores and Start Over/Un-Verify?

Unlock All Scores preserves all existing results and allows targeted corrections. Start Over/Un-Verify deletes all results and returns the event to the verification stage — never use it for score corrections.
