# How to Add Players to Your Team League Roster

As a [team captain](/article/how-team-captains-enter-scores-in-a-pickleball-tournament-team-event) in [Pickleball Team Leagues (PTL)](/article/what-is-major-league-pickleball-mlp), you have three ways to add players to your roster: during initial team registration, directly from the [Team Dashboard](/72000638113-league-setup---session-players), or via an invite code. Use whichever method fits your situation.

## Method 1 — Add players during team registration

Use this method when forming a new team or registering for a season for the first time.

1. Go to [pickleballteamleagues.com](https://pickleballteamleagues.com) and open your league.
2. Click **Register Now**.
3. Select **Team Registration** and fill in your team name and division.
4. Add players to your roster as prompted, then complete payment to finalize.

> **Note:** This page is also where individuals can sign up using an invite code and where free agents can self-register. Team registration is most convenient when you know your full roster at signup.

## Method 2 — Direct add from the Team Dashboard

Use this method to add known players after your team is already registered.

1. Sign in at pickleballteamleagues.com and select your league.
2. Click **My Dashboard** then choose **Team Dashboard**.
3. Click **Add or Move Player**.
4. Scroll down and click **Add**, then select **Add Players**.
5. Search for the player by last name and add them.

When you add someone, the system sends them an email invitation they can accept or decline. This gives both you and the player a record of the invitation.

## Method 3 — Invite codes and free agent requests

Use invite codes when recruiting broadly, sharing on social channels, or letting multiple players join without manually searching for each one.

1. From the Team Dashboard, click the **edit pencil** next to your team name.
2. Set the invite code to **Active** and note the current code value.
3. Optionally set an expiration date, limit the number of uses, or create a custom code.
4. To allow free agents to request to join, toggle **Requests** to on.
5. Save your changes.

When free agents request to join, you receive an email with a direct link to the Player Activities section of your Team Dashboard where you can approve or deny requests.

## Frequently asked questions

### A player didn't receive their invite email — what should I do?

Ask the player to check their spam folder first. If the invite still wasn't received, confirm the email address on their account. You can also add them directly via Add Players in the Team Dashboard.

### My invite code isn't working — why?

Check that the code is set to Active and hasn't expired. Both settings are in the team edit screen accessible via the pencil icon next to your team name.

### Where do I see and approve free agent requests?

Go to Player Activities in your Team Dashboard. Free agent requests appear there for you to approve or deny. If you're not seeing requests, confirm the Requests toggle is set to active in your invite code settings.

### A player can't complete registration — what do I do?

Confirm the player has a Pickleball.com account. If they do, try adding them directly via Add Players using their last name. If the issue persists, contact support@pickleball.com.
