As scores are submitted, they're processed automatically: standings update, and winners advance to their next scheduled match without any manual entry required by the tournament director.
The single most common technology failure at pickleball tournaments is WiFi or cellular connectivity issues that prevent Court Desk from syncing scores. Always test your venue's coverage before event day and have paper scoresheet backups printed and ready. Even a 30-minute scoring blackout during a busy bracket creates a cascade of scheduling delays.
Either works. Personal phones are fine for smaller events, but larger events often benefit from dedicated tablets mounted at each court to reduce the risk of a scoring device walking away or a player forgetting to enter a score during play.
