Waters, Parenteau avenge Worlds defeat with four-game triumph over Bright, Rohrabacher

Anna Leigh Waters/Catherine Parenteau kicked off Championship Sunday by taking the women’s doubles title with a 6-11, 11-5, 11-5, 12-10 victory over Anna Bright/Rachel Rohrabacher.

They had lost their most recent meeting against ‘The Girlies’ in three games last month at Worlds, but they rallied for the win after dropping the first game in San Clemente.

It looked like Bright/Rohrabacher would force a fifth game when they got up 7-2 in Game 4, but Waters/Parenteau came back to secure their fourteenth title of the year together.

Parenteau raved about how much she enjoys playing with Waters.

“Anna Leigh is just a beast next to me and is just always so supportive,” she said. “I couldn’t be more grateful to get gold next to her.”

Even though they fell short in the final, Bright/Rohrabacher put together a special campaign in 2024. They earned eight titles together and became the first team to ever beat Waters/Parenteau back in March.

Bright took a moment to reflect on her partnership with Rohrabacher following the loss.

“I absolutely love playing with Rachel. There’s no one I’d rather win with, and no one I’d rather lose with,” she mentioned. “I’m really proud of us and our season, and I feel like we really upped our consistency as a partnership.”

Don’t be surprised to see more battles between these two juggernauts in 2025.
