Understanding Manager and Owner Roles in Your Club

In Pickleball Clubs (PC), add Managers to handle day-to-day operations and Owners to publicly credit who owns the Club — both are set up from the Managers and Owners tabs on the Edit Organization screen. This guide explains what each role does, how to add and edit them, and how to change your primary manager.

Before You Begin

How to access Managers and Owners

  1. Log into your Club account on Pickleball.com.
  2. Click Manage in the upper right corner.
  3. In the left-hand menu, click Edit (Edit Organization).
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the Edit screen. You'll see two tabs: Managers and Owners.

Managers

Managers run the day-to-day operations of your Club. Each Club must have at least one primary manager, but you can add as many additional managers as you need — each with their own permission set.

Manager permission options

When you add or edit a manager, you'll see toggle switches for each of these permissions. Toggle on only the ones the manager needs:

Note

Give each manager only the permissions they actually need. Anyone with Can Edit Club can add or edit other managers, so use that toggle sparingly.

How to add a manager

  1. On the Managers tab, click + Add New Manager.
  2. Search for and select the person's Pickleball.com account.
  3. Toggle on the permissions this manager should have.
  4. Click Save.

The new manager appears in your Managers list immediately, with access based on the permissions you selected.

How to edit or delete a manager

  1. On the Managers tab, find the manager in the list.
  2. Click Edit next to their name to open the permissions panel on the right, then adjust toggles and click Save.
  3. To remove a manager entirely, use the delete option next to their name.

Owners

Owners represent who owns the Club. Unlike managers, owners are optional — you don't have to have any. But owners have two things managers don't: the same permission level as the primary manager (so they can do everything), and a public-facing bio and photo that can appear on your Club page.

How to add an owner

  1. On the Owners tab, click + Add New Owner.
  2. Search for and select the person's Pickleball.com account.
  3. Optionally, fill in the owner's Bio and upload a Full Image headshot (JPG, JPEG, or PNG; max 1200px x 1200px; max 2 MB). If you don't upload one, the owner's Pickleball.com profile picture is used by default.
  4. Toggle the public visibility switch on if you want the owner's info to appear on the public Club page. Leave it off to keep them internal only.
  5. Click Save.

The owner appears on your Owners tab and, if you turned on public visibility, on your Club's public page.

Note

The Bio section on an owner's record shows an Incomplete badge until both the bio text and a headshot are filled in. Owners without a completed bio can still be saved — the badge is just a reminder.

Changing the primary manager

Every Club has exactly one primary manager at a time. To change who it is:

  1. On the Managers tab, click Edit next to the manager you want to make primary.
  2. In the panel that opens on the right, toggle on the Is Primary switch.
  3. Click Save.

This manager becomes your Club's primary manager immediately, and the previous primary manager keeps their other permissions but loses primary status.

Warning

When you make a new manager primary, the previous primary manager automatically loses their primary status — only one manager can be primary at a time. The former primary keeps their other permission toggles unchanged; they just aren't primary anymore.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to add any owners?

No. Owners are optional. Every Club must have at least one primary manager, but you can run a Club just fine without ever adding an owner. Add owners when you want to publicly credit the people who own the Club with a bio and headshot on your public Club page.

Can an owner also be a manager?

Yes. The Managers and Owners tabs are independent, and someone can appear in both. If you want the same person to have a manager entry and an owner entry, add them in each tab separately.

Can a manager add or remove other managers?

Only managers with Can Edit Club permission can add, edit, or remove other managers and owners. The primary manager always has this ability. Owners can as well, since they have the same permission level as the primary manager.

What can an owner do that a regular manager can't?

Two things: (1) owners have the same permission level as the primary manager, so they can do everything without you having to toggle on each permission individually; and (2) owners can have a public bio and headshot that show up on your Club page (regular managers do not).

Can I have more than one primary manager?

No. Only one manager can hold the primary role at a time. If you need multiple people to have full access, either grant them all permissions individually on the Managers tab, or add them as Owners (which gives them the same permission level as the primary manager).

What happens to a manager's permissions when they lose primary status?

Only the Is Primary toggle turns off. All other permission toggles they had remain in place. If you want to remove additional permissions, edit the manager and turn off those toggles individually.

Can an owner's information be hidden from the public?

Yes. Each owner record has a public visibility toggle. Leave it off if you want the owner listed internally but not shown on the public Club page.
