How to Set Up a Ladder League in PL
This article covers how to run a Ladder League game day in Pickleball Leagues (PL) — from setting up groups after opt-ins close through entering scores, handling subs, and completing the game day.
Step 1 — Set up the game day
- After the opt-in window closes, go to Game Day from the League Menu.
- Click Groups to verify the round robin groups are correct.
- When groups are set correctly, click Start Matches.
- Click the Matches tab to see all generated matches.
Each player must be opted in before the opt-in window closes to appear in a group. Players showing as "Not Playing" need to opt in themselves or be opted in by the league manager.
Step 2 — Handle subs
If a player needs a substitute, assign the sub before scores are entered for that match.
- Click Sub Player for the player who needs to be replaced.
- You'll see "SUB for..." next to the player's name for that game.
- Repeat for each game the player needs a sub.
- If a player needs to leave early or doesn't show, click Remove Player. They can be added back to the rotation if they return.
Step 3 — Enter scores
- Click each match to open the score entry screen.
- Click each score circle and enter the number.
- Click Save Scores.
- If a match was not played, click Cancel Game — this is required to complete game day.
Step 4 — Complete the game day
- Once all matches have scores or have been cancelled, click Complete Game Day.
- If you made a scoring error, click Roll Back before completing.
The Complete Game Day button will not appear if any match is missing a score or hasn't been cancelled. Check all matches before looking for this button.
WarningIf you need to opt a player out or change the round robin groups after matches have started, click Start Over. This erases all scores entered for the game day.

I entered a wrong score — how do I fix it?
Click Roll Back before clicking Complete Game Day. If you already completed the game day, contact support@pickleball.com.
I need to change the groups after starting matches — what do I do?
Click Start Over. This will erase all scores for the game day and allow you to re-configure groups. Use this only when necessary as it cannot be undone.
