Flex League Player — How to Opt In and Opt Out for a Game Day

In a Flex League, you are automatically opted in to all game days when you register for the session. You don't need to opt in each week — but you do need to opt out if you can't attend, and you can sub in a replacement player if your group of 4 is short.

How to opt out of a game day

Players can opt themselves out of a week's game day from any group of 5 or more. Other players in the group can also opt someone out if they don't show up. This re-configures the group so matches can still take place.

    1. Log in to your Pickleball.com account.
    2. Select Leagues from the top navigation or the menu button on mobile.
    3. Click My League Schedule.
    4. Click on the starting date of the week and select Groups.
    5. Find the player who is not playing and opt them out.
    Note

Opting a player out from a group of 5 or 6 deletes them from that week and re-creates the playing group without them. This cannot be undone — the player would need to be manually re-added by the league manager if opted out in error.

How to sub in a player (group of 4)

If your group has 4 players and one doesn't show up, you can sub in a replacement. Subs can be anyone — they don't have to be registered in the league. You must find your own sub; the league manager cannot provide names.

    1. Log in to your Pickleball.com account.
    2. Select Leagues from the top navigation.
    3. Click League Schedule.
    4. Click the Go to Matches button.
    5. Click the Sub Player button for each game you want to sub the player in. It will allow you to choose which player you're replacing.
    Note

Scores for subs do not count toward ladder standings. If no sub is available and the group cannot play, matches are automatically cancelled at the end of the week.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Can anyone sub in for a flex league game day?

Yes. Any player can be a sub — they don't need to be a registered league member. However, you are responsible for finding your own sub. The league manager cannot source subs for individual groups.

Do sub scores count toward standings?

Scores for subs do not count toward ladder standings for either the sub or the player being replaced. Only registered session players accumulate standings.

What happens if no sub is available?

If the group cannot play and no sub is available, the matches are automatically cancelled at the end of the week. No action is needed from you.
