How to Configure Tournament Registration Settings in PT
To configure registration settings for your tournament in Pickleball Tournaments (PT), go to Edit Tourney and select the Basic Info tab. Registration settings control when players can sign up, what information they must provide, and how many events they can enter.
Before You Begin
- You must be the Primary Manager to edit registration settings.
- Registration settings can be changed at any time before registration closes.
Registration Dates
- Online Registration: Toggle this on to allow players to register through Pickleball.com. Leave it on unless you are running an Advertise Only tournament.
- Registration Open Date: The date and time registration becomes available to players.
- Registration Close Date: The date and time registration ends. After this point, players cannot self-register and you must manually add them.

Age Limit Deadline
The Age Limit Deadline is the date the software uses to calculate each player's age for age-restricted events. Set this to the last day of your tournament so players are placed in the correct age division based on how old they'll be during your event — not at the end of the year.
WarningIf you leave the Age Limit Deadline at the default (December 31), players will be placed based on their age at year end, not their age during your tournament. For events with strict age divisions (50+, 55+, etc.), always update this date to your tournament's last day.
Player Profile Requirements
These settings determine what information players must have in their Pickleball.com profile before they can complete registration:
- Emergency Contact Required: Players must have an emergency contact saved in their profile. If they don't, they'll receive an error message at registration and must add one before proceeding.
- Player Full Address Required: Players must have a complete mailing address in their profile. Required for some sanctioned events.
- Disable Partner Manual Add: Prevents players from entering a partner name that doesn't have a Pickleball.com account. Turn this on if you want to ensure all registered players have verified accounts.

Event Registration Limits
- Max Events Per Registration: The maximum number of events a single player can enter across the entire tournament. Leave blank for no limit.
- Max Event Registrations Per Day: Limits how many events a player can compete in on a single tournament day. Useful for multi-day tournaments where you want to prevent player fatigue or scheduling conflicts.
- Restrictions on Registering in Multiple Events: Controls whether players can enter multiple events in the same format (e.g., both Men's Doubles 3.5 and Men's Doubles 4.0). Useful when splitting event formats across multiple days.
RecommendedLeave Max Events Per Registration blank unless you have a specific reason to cap it. Managing capacity at the individual event level (in each event's setup) gives you more precise control.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I change registration settings after my tournament is published?
Yes. You can update registration dates, player requirements, and event limits at any time before registration closes. Changes to registration open/close dates take effect immediately.
How do I make sure players are in the right age division?
Set the Age Limit Deadline to the last day of your tournament. This ensures the software uses each player's age during your event, not their age at the end of the calendar year.
How do I require players to provide an emergency contact?
Enable Emergency Contact Required in the registration settings. Players without an emergency contact in their profile will receive an error message at checkout and must add one before they can complete registration.
How do I limit how many events a player can enter per day?
Use Max Event Registrations Per Day to limit daily entries, and use the Restrictions on Registering in Multiple Events section to control format-level restrictions. Both settings work together to manage player scheduling across multi-day events.
Can a player go through registration process, not pay and it shows up that the player is registered but owes money?
Yes, if the "Pay On Site" option is checked, a player can register without have to pay during the online registration/checkout process.
