Bright, Rohrabacher earn first PPA title together
LAKEVILLE, MN - Going into the women’s doubles gold medal match, Anna Bright and Rachel Rohrabacher had lost only to the undefeated pairing of Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau on the PPA Tour.
That’s still true after their win over Callie Smith and Lucy Kovalova.

The No. 2 seeds completed their highly successful campaign with an 11-6, 11-5, 11-1 victory over the two-time defending champions in Minnesota.
Bright and Rohrabacher’s versatility proved to be a difference-maker in the match, with both players being able to comfortably play the left and right sides.
That versatility allowed them to keep things simple when returning serves.
“It’s really huge when we’re returning serves because, especially indoors, it’s easy to just rip the serve and rip the drive,” explained Bright. “So it’s nice to have that flexibility where we don’t have to take that risk of unwinding the stack.”
This gave them more opportunities to get to the kitchen line when returning, where their heavy topspin roll dinks helped them gain control of most rallies.
With her first PPA gold medal under her belt, Rohrabacher will have a chance to earn her second title of the day when she and Federico Staksrud take on Thomas Wilson and Vivienne David in the mixed doubles final.
