Jansen withdraws from singles at PPA Finals due to medical issues
SAN CLEMENTE, CA - Lea Jansen was forced to withdraw from the women's singles portion of the CIBC PPA Finals on Thursday due to medical issues related to her diabetes.
Jansen shared the news via her official Twitter account - @LeaJansenPB - and referenced high blood sugar levels as the source of the problem.

Jansen was slated to face Catherine Parenteau, Irina Tereschenko and Yana Newell.
She had previously announced her singles comeback via an interview with Hannah Johns back at the end of August, saying:
"I've been grinding away all year, I'm in the top 8, I'm going to be there anyway, might as well just play this one out since I qualified."
Jansen is still expected to compete in mixed doubles and women's doubles later this week.
Jansen was replaced by Lacy Schneemann since she is No. 10 in the rankings and ninth-ranked Lina Padegimaite isn't on-site.
The player replacement process involves going down the rankings and selecting the first on-site alternate from that list.
