No. 26 Frantova, Kawka upset Frazier, Black in mixed dubs
ROCKWALL, TX – No. 26 seeded Martina Frantova and Patrick Kawka engaged in an epic, three game match against No. 11 seeded Hurricane Tyra Black and Dylan Frazier on Friday, May 31.
Frantova and Kawka have been on quite the run so far in mixed doubles. Previously knocking out No. 33 Michael Loyd and Cass Hoag, No. 6 seeded Salome Devidze and Johnny Pickleball, and now the tough duo of Black and Frazier.
The final score was 8-11, 11-7, 11-3.
“I stood on my partner’s back and let her carry us through, she’s been carrying us all morning,” Kawka said with a laugh.
“My back hurts a little, I’ll need a massage,” Frantova continued to joke.
When asked what they did to take home the victory today against their toughest opponent yet, Kawka said:
“We played into our game as much as we could and grind out some tough points. Their hands are the fastest on tour so getting a couple of wins from a hands battle – I’m happy about that.”
“He kept hitting some great forehands and I was there to finish it off,” added Frantova.
Now, they’re facing off against the No. 1 seeded Anna Leigh Waters and Ben Johns in the semi-finals.
