Wright, Dizon battle Bright, David in women’s doubles
MESA, AZ – It was a match with long, beautiful rallies. And a women’s doubles battle that truly had each team fighting for every single point. It was a back-and-forth battle with tension running high.
But No. 4 seeds Meghan Dizon and Etta Wright took down No. 2 seeds Vivienne David and Anna Bright 11-9, 11-9.
And needless to say, it was a battle.
“We stayed super aggressive and we worked really well as a team. We were moving really well together and super fluid,” reflected Dizon.
But during the match, there was a pivotal time out near the end of game two from Dizon and Wright. Once they returned, it was clear they switched up their strategy and took an offensive role.
“During that timeout, we decided we wanted to be more aggressive on any shot and return that was given. That way we could keep our bodies moving forward and look for the next ball,” said Wright.
Tomorrow, these ladies will face off against undefeated Catherine Parenteau and Anna Leigh Waters for gold. To prepare, Wright and Dizon will watch some of their previous game tapes and find a strategy to take down their tough opponents.
