Anna Leigh Waters graduates high school
DALLAS, TX – Anna Leigh Waters is the No. 1 woman in the world who turned pro at age 12, making history as the youngest pro pickleball player. And she has officially graduated high school.
The young pro has won a grand total of 25 triple crowns in her pro pickleball career, with no signs of slowing down. And, she’s one of only two players who’s achieved a 100-title victory. All of this while attending high school.
“Every accomplishment I’ve made on the pickleball court is important to me but graduating high school means a lot to me as well,” shared Waters.
Funnily enough, her final exams were during the Vizzy Atlanta Open. After she won her 102-title alongside women’s doubles partner, Catherine Parenteau, Waters had to take her English final exam.
“I’ve been homeschooled since third grade so I’ve always been used to playing a sport and doing school at the same time,” continued Waters.
“I don’t know if I’m glad that I don’t have to do school anymore or that my mom’s not nagging me to do school anymore. But definitely both are something I’m looking forward to for the next couple of years,” she said.
So what’s next for the young pro?
“It’s just going to depend on what’s going on in my life. I think at least this first year I’m just going to focus on pickleball. I might read some books here and there but I’m going to take a break and then I’ll re-evaluate next year,” continued Waters.
I think we’re all relieved that Waters is continuing her pickleball career, but no matter where she goes next, we know the future will be bright.
