Cartier isn't exactly the ideal pickleball accessory
DALLAS, TX – Call me crazy, but maybe don’t wear fine jewelry on the pickleball court.
In a reel posted by @classofpickleball on Instagram, a rec player shows off an adorable alo yoga outfit that would definitely make the best dressed list.
But, she tops it off with Cartier, specifically, the $7,000 love bracelet and matching necklace.
That is a big move for an activity that involves sweat and sunscreen.
Maybe this is a bold take, but I think you should leave your Cartier at home under the circumstances. Nevertheless, the reel got me thinking: What kind of jewelry is acceptable on the pickleball court? After all, women wear diamond rings when playing America's fastest-growing sport, and nobody blinks an eye.
One could argue that the Cartier bracelet is safe to wear with your pickleball fit because you essentially lock it on and never take it off. In theory, you could wear it everywhere – running errands, in the shower, but on the pickleball court? I mean, do you think any Olympic athletes are wearing their Cartier love bracelets during their events?
Well, maybe the tennis players, but you'd be hard-pressed to see accessories like that.
Yes, it’s only rec play. Let this woman wear whatever she wants. Who cares?
Personally, I worry about tarnishing such a high-end item. What if sunscreen and sweat seeps into the hinges? Then again, if you have enough money to afford a Cartier bracelet and necklace, then you can get it professionally cleaned.
If you're the type of person who wears the Norma Kamali pickleball dress collection, though, then maybe you should pair it with Cartier. Is it actually good for pickleball? Absolutely not. But, you'll be ready for a date night afterwards.
Wear whatever you want on the court, but you certainly don’t need to get all gussied up jewelry-wise. Pickleball isn't a luxury sport, so wear whatever kind of fun accessories you want. A Born to Rally pickleball necklace can dress you up just fine. And you’ll be on theme.
