Pros serve up style in gameday fits at Masters
Hot take, but I personally think one of the best things about the NFL is those gameday fits. Seeing what crazy outfits Joe Burrow wears always sparks a strong reaction that either has me kicking my feet in delight or questioning if this man knows anything about fashion.
I thought it would be a long time coming to get gameday fits for the pickleball pros when they walk up to the tournament venue in striking ensembles, but the Zimmer Biomet Masters tournament has me feeling incredibly optimistic that we might get those iconic fits sooner than anticipated.
Thanks to the photographers and media, the PPA posted on Instagram a lineup of some pretty stellar gameday fits for the first event of the calendar year.
Leading the pack, we had Federico Stakrsrud wearing a JOOLA sweatshirt and shades looking like an absolute legend.
Zane Ford was the second in line and he went a bit against the grain and showed up in a black 6.0 hoodie, hat, long silver chain, and headphones.
I appreciate the relaxed and cool vibe he brought to the fit.
The Tweener King, Christian Alshon rocked a cool vintage style Sublime crewneck that was the clear stand out of his gameday look. Alshon brought a little bit of that fashionable touch that wasn’t from a pickleball brand. Repping an iconic band, I’d love to see more of this from Alshon in 2025.
Hunter Johnson and Parris Todd showed up in their usual attire - Johnson in a sleek white Wilson windbreaker jacket and shorts, and Todd in a cozy alo yoga set. These two are a guarantee to look good, even as they pull up in their tournament day fits.
Then we have Tyler Loong. Oh, this look is good. Hoodie pulled up over his head and the cream and blue Vulcan pickleball bag slung over one shoulder, topped off with an inquisitive look on his face. This is Loong showing up in style. And we are paying attention.
I think we need more track suits on the pro court because Eric Roddy pulled up looking nothing but sleek. The pros are severely underutilizing track suits. Roddy also rocked a serious gameday look on his face that tells the world he means business.
Collin Shick was another standout. Clad in the Masters all-white uniform with a Selkirk jacket and shorts was no big surprise. But the image captured a big smile from Shick that revealed how much he’s enjoying his final tournament before returning to medical school.
There are a few other pros I’d love to see in their walk up fits. I know the fashionista herself, Genie Bouchard, absolutely pulled up looking sharp. Hayden Patriquin and Michael Loyd must have shown up in style. And what about Anna Leigh Waters? She must've been rocking a cute FILA sweater. Not to mention Leigh Waters too, you know she showed up looking fierce.
All I’m saying is that maybe we need to bring more of this fashionable, cool energy into the pre-tournament day fits.
It would certainly be a lot of fun.
