Pickleball on the Warner Bros. Studio lot? Ryan Reynolds is making it happen
Actor Ryan Reynolds is spearheading an initiative to convert several sound stages on the Warner Bros. Studio lot into pickleball courts.
An estimated 63% of sound stages are currently sitting empty at the facility, which is located just seven miles northwest of downtown Los Angeles in Burbank, CA.
Reynolds is partnering with Warner Bros. to launch a revitalization project on site called “Maximum Effort Pickleball” that will make use of these vacant spaces to generate revenue.
“When life gives you a production slowdown, you build a pickleball empire,” said Reynolds, in a teaser video on Instagram. “Let’s rally.”
The courts will reportedly be designed to represent various film genres, including a noir court and a sci-fi themed court as well.
Celebrity tournaments will be hosted, along with fan events and corporate league nights.
Warner Bros. expects to rent out the stages by the hour and offer VIP packages.
“It’s weird, it’s fun, and it might just work,” said entertainment strategist Mia Clarkson. “Which also happens to describe Ryan Reynolds perfectly.”
