Why I love the “Dump him and play pickleball” TikTok trend

DALLAS, TX – You know you’re addicted to pickleball when your entire social media feed is starting to flood with content strictly focused on America's fastest-growing sport.

It’s like the algorithm has figured out that I’m trying to improve my game, so now I’m getting everything from Callie Smith’s pickleball tips to debates over the best paddle.

Admittedly, it's a little overwhelming.

Then, I stumbled upon this trend:

“Dump him and start playing pickleball.”

Of course I needed to investigate... because I’m just a girl.

There are so many of these cheeky videos filmed at local courts where young, hot, single men (mostly with their shirts off revealing incredibly sculpted muscles) are playing pickleball, to the utter delight of single women.

I think this is my favorite TikTok trend yet.

I’m certainly not complaining when a good-looking guy pops up on my TikTok feed, but give me a handsome guy who’s also playing pickleball and I’m going weak at the knees.

Who doesn’t have a soft spot for athletes (because yes, pickleball is a sport)? Even Taylor Swift agrees.

Belive it or not, this TikTok trend is actually extremely hopeful.

“Dump him and play pickleball” sounds a little harsh at first, but we all have that friend (or we’ve been that friend) who is clearly settling for someone. Maybe their current partner isn’t treating them the way we know they deserve to be treated. Sometimes, I just want to lovingly grab my friend by the shoulders and say, “Dump him and start playing pickleball!”

Especially if you’re based in a larger city or town where the age demographic trends towards the mid-20s and 30s, the pickleball court is the perfect place to meet someone in a safe, fun, and active environment.

I’ve been preaching this since Day 1. Pickleball is the place to meet friends, dates, and potential doubles partners on and off the court. If dating apps aren’t working out, try pickleball.

Finally, it seems like the rest of the population is figuring out the untapped potential of this modern-day watering hole.

Think about it. What does playing pickleball reveal? That he prioritizes health and fitness. And that he’s involved in his community and has friends, because you can't play pickleball alone. So many green flags are revealed on the court.

Even if they’re a ball hog, though, at least you get some good eye candy, right?

So if you're newly single, play pickleball with some friends. It'll remind you that there are still plenty of great people out there worth meeting and getting to know.
