WNBA rookie sensation Caitlin Clark hits the pickleball court
DALLAS, TX – At this point, I’m convinced that every pro athlete is a secret pickleball enthusiast who keeps their love for the sport on the down low. And in reality, they’re just riding out their time in MLB, NASCAR, etc. until they can make the full-time switch.
Everyone else is obsessed, so of course they're obsessed, too.
Indiana Fever (WNBA) point guard Caitlin Clark recently revealed that she plays rec pickleball when she’s away from the basketball court.
In a viral video on X (formerly Twitter), Clark plays mixed doubles against Erica Wheeler.
It’s clear that Clark has played pickleball before. She knew exactly where to stand on the court, had good form, didn’t violate the kitchen rules, and even finished the point with a paddle tap for partner Connor McCaffery.
It’s no surprise that Clark has pickleball skills. After all, she’s at the top of her game physically and boasts outstanding hand-eye coordination.
She even wins the point by strategically driving the ball down the middle between her two opponents who both assume their partner is going to return the ball.
Clark playing pickleball illustrates the continued growth of the sport, and probably inspired some of her fans to pick up a paddle and give it a try.
And who knows? Maybe we’ll see her follow in the footsteps of Kris Humphries and play 5.0 at a PPA tournament one day? Only time will tell. Fingers crossed.
