How to Create a Minor Account on Pickleball.com
To create a Pickleball.com account for a child age 16 or under, a parent or guardian must initiate the process from the sign-up page. The parent signs in to their own account, fills in the child's information, signs a media release and consent form, and verifies the child's email. Once created, the child's account appears under the parent's "Accounts I Manage" section.
Before You Begin
- You (the parent or guardian) need your own Pickleball.com account. If you don't have one, create one first.
- You'll need an email address for the child — each account requires its own unique email. You cannot use your own email for the child's account.
- Decide whether you'll use the child's phone number or yours for the account contact.
- Be prepared to sign a media release and consent form on behalf of the minor.
How to create the minor's account
- Go to pickleball.com and click Sign Up in the upper right corner.
- Check the box that says "I am creating an account for a child (age 16 and under)" at the top of the form.
- When prompted, log in to your parent/guardian Pickleball.com account.
- Fill in the child's information: email address, password, phone number (child's or parent's), skill level, time zone, and any profile preferences.
- Read and agree to the Terms of Service and check any applicable checkboxes.
- When prompted, open and sign the Media Release and Consent Form. Click the checkbox to view the release, read it, type your last name to sign, and check that you've read the terms.
- Return to the account creation page and click Create Account.
- Check the child's email for a six-digit verification code. Enter the code on the verification screen and click Verify and Create Account.
The verification code is sent to the child's email address, not yours. Make sure you have access to the child's inbox to complete this step.
What happens after the account is created?
Once the child's account is created, it automatically appears in your profile under Accounts I Manage. From there you can:
- View all minor accounts you manage in one list
- Impersonate the child's account to register them for tournaments, leagues, and other events — this lets you act as the child without needing their login credentials each time
- Enable or disable notifications for each minor account
- Manage privacy settings through the Information Protection section (accessible while impersonating)
What does "impersonate" mean?
Impersonating a minor's account lets you perform actions as if you were logged in as the child — registering for events, editing their profile, completing waivers, and making payments. It doesn't transfer ownership of the account; it gives the parent or guardian a way to manage tasks on the child's behalf.
To impersonate, click your name in the upper right corner and select My Profile, then click Edit Profile. In the top menu bar, scroll or swipe left until you see Accounts I Manage and click it, then click the Impersonate button next to the child's name. While impersonating, you'll see a notification bar at the top of the screen. Click Stop when you're finished to return to your own account.
RecommendedActions taken while impersonating are performed through the child's account. Registrations, payments, and profile changes will appear as if the child made them. Use impersonation responsibly.
How to manage privacy and waivers
While impersonating the child's account, go to their profile and navigate to Information Protection (you may need to scroll or swipe the top menu to find it). Here you can:
- Complete any outstanding waivers and consent forms
- Toggle privacy settings (such as whether the child's last name is displayed publicly)
- Adjust settings based on the child's age and your comfort level
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need a separate email address for my child's account?
Yes. Each child's profile requires its own unique email address. You cannot use your own email for the child's account.
Can both parents manage the same child's account?
Not yet - this is coming in future releases!
Will I get copies of my child's match notifications?
Currently, only the child's email address receives match start time notifications. This feature has been flagged for review by the Pickleball.com team to add parent notifications in a future update.
Will I get copies of my child's scores?
Yes. If a tournament uses texting and a phone number is available for the parent, parents will receive score copies. Parents can also enter scores by impersonating the child's account.
I didn't receive the verification code
Check spam/junk folders first. If the code isn't there, verify the email address was entered correctly and request a new code from the account creation screen.
Can I create the child's profile using non-English characters?
Yes. Pickleball.com fully supports Unicode characters, including Japanese, Vietnamese, Chinese, Korean, and other scripts, as well as decorative symbols commonly used in usernames and bios. All special characters, diacritics, and non-standard symbols display correctly across the entire platform — including usernames, biographies, comments, and any other input fields.
My child already has an account — how do I connect it to mine instead of creating a new one?
Don't create a duplicate account. If your child already has a Pickleball.com account, the connection has to be started from the child's account, not yours — they log in and send you a request to manage their account, which you then accept from your own login.
