Alshon, Garnett advance to quarterfinals in Atlanta
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Men’s doubles at the Vizzy Atlanta Open is heating up with entertaining matches aplenty.
On Thursday, sixth-seeded Connor Garnett and Christian Alshon defeated 11th-seeded Callan Dawson and Hayden Patriquin by a score of 11-8, 11-9.
“The key is that we both trust each other. We left it all out there on the court and in the big moments we played great, played big, and that was the difference. A good few points here and there, and we got it done,” said Garnett.
What made their partnership a success this time around? Alshon had this to say:
“Our ability to play both sides. Connor’s been known to be a left-side player, but he played the right and did so well,” said Alshon.
Advancing to the quarterfinals on Friday, the pair will go up against the winner of Dylan Frazier/JW Johnson and Tyler Loong/Patrick Kawka.
