Ge downs Devilliers in three games
LOS ANGELES, CA - First, it was mixed doubles in Phoenix. Then, it was men’s doubles in North Carolina. Now, Augie Ge appears to be making a run in singles at the Veolia LA Open presented by Deep Eddy Vodka.
The No. 48 seed is into the Round of 16 after a 4-11, 11-2, 11-5 victory over No. 7 seed Jay Devilliers, marking his biggest singles win to date.
“Jay is a very established figure in pickleball and has always been one of the best singles players, so I’m just super happy to get this win,” Ge said of the win.
Although Ge doesn’t compete in singles at every tournament, he says that could change soon.
“I play singles on average once every four to five tournaments, but I’m definitely gonna play more after encouraging wins like this,” he shared.
The lefty will next take on No. 18 seed Ryan Sherry.
