Sock downs Campbell, stops magical run
MESA, AZ – Seventeen-year-old Cason Campbell's impressive singles run at the Mesa Arizona Cup came to an end on Friday in the quarterfinals, courtesy of Jack Sock.
It took three games for Sock to get the job done, though, so Campbell definitely made him earn the 11-3, 6-11, 11-5 victory.
Needless to say, the youngster earned the respect of his American counterpart.
“The kid has phenomenal ground strokes,” praised Sock. “He rips the balls right down the line, and I saw some of those patterns watching him and my boy Shicky [Collin Shick] play earlier this week.”
Up next for Sock is a matchup with No. 2 seed Federico Staksrud in the semis.
Talk about a challenge...
“Fed rocked me in Palm Springs, so I probably don’t have much of a chance,” shared Sock.
Anything's possible, though, so stay tuned.
