Undefeated no more: Bright, Rohrabacher down Waters, Parenteau to take women’s doubles title
LAKEWAY, TX - Anna Bright already had one gold medal from her efforts in mixed doubles alongside Andrei Daescu, but she now has another after her and Rachel Rohrabacher’s women’s doubles title.
The No. 3 seeds took down the previously undefeated pairing of Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau in four games: 11-4, 3-11, 11-6, 11-8.
They needed nine Championship Points to close it out, but they eventually got the job done.
Even though the team switched up their sides at different points throughout the match, Rohrabacher was especially impressive on the left side using her two-handed backhand roll dink to earn attackable balls for her and Bright.
This is the second consecutive title for Bright and Rohrabacher after they also took gold at the Pickleball Central Indoor USA Championships up in Minnesota.
“We’re always talking about ways we can get better and improve as a team,” Bright said. “I feel like things are really starting to click for us, and I’m really proud of that.”
Even though they got the win on Monday, Rohrabacher knows that there is more work to be done.
“We won a battle today, but it’s still a war all year. We’re gonna celebrate, but then get back to work so we can figure out what we did so that we can keep replicating it,” she shared.
