Is anyone else surprised that superstar pop sensation, Dua Lipa, plays pickleball on tour? I’m not. Because pickleball is so wonderfully addicting and fun. 

In a recent interview with the BBC, one of Dua Lipa’s opening acts, Alessi Rose, shared that road life with Dua Lipa consists of a lot of pasta and pickleball.

That's a pretty stellar combo, if you ask me. 

“Me and the band are going to eat pasta downstairs and we have gained an obsession with pickleball,” said Rose. “It’s pickleball tomorrow and pasta tonight. That is the really glam life on tour with Dua Lipa.” 

Dua Lipa is one of several musicians who’ve picked up pickleball while touring.

Country music stars Morgan Evans and Dierks Bentley have also shared how they often tape pickleball courts out on the floors of the arenas, so that the band and crew can play a few games before showtime. 

Taylor Swift also made the pickleball world buzz when she shared a clip of her swinging a Kansas City Chiefs pickleball paddle on a court. 

Katy Perry is another outspoken pickleball player, even getting her fellow American Idol judges Luke Bryan and Lionel Richie out on the pickleball court during auditions. 

Celebrities, especially musicians, love pickleball. 

But what I especially enjoy about this Dua Lipa reveal is that she is kind of the ultimate cool girl. At 29 years old, she is a megastar who always looks incredibly modern and chic while living a glamorous lifestyle traveling across the globe. She is basically the woman we all want to be, someone who can “dance the night away.”

The fact that she loves pickleball is a huge win for the sport. 

Being from the UK, I would assume that Dua Lipa is more of a padel girl. With padel’s glass-walled courts, it has a more luxurious vibe compared to pickleball’s approachability. But, she made pickleball her activity of choice.

Dua Lipa enjoying pickleball is the biggest retort to the argument I still hear all the time that “Pickleball is for old people.” Dua Lipa is literally every man’s celebrity crush. And she plays pickleball. And people still think pickleball isn’t sexy? 

Though I don’t think we’ll ever see Dua Lipa rolling up to a community court in a little black tennis dress, it’s still incredibly fun to have another superstar as obsessed with pickleball as we are.
