Greg Dow blends pickleball dating tip with humor to perfection

Pickleball pro Greg Dow is a delightful presence on the court.

Between his viral commentary moments on the broadcast mic and his self-deprecating social media posts, he's definitely worth a follow.

Dow recently posted the latest edition of his parody video series called “Dow Tips” where he shares advice for pickleball players. They aren't the kind of tips you should put into practice, but they will definitely make you laugh.

In Dow Tip #6, he enlists the help of his girlfriend - fellow pro Alex Walker - on the subject of “How to get a pickleball girlfriend.”

I’m a big advocate of ditching dating apps and looking for love on the pickleball court, so Dow’s latest tip obviously caught my attention.

In the video, Walker is visibly unimpressed to start and even says “Ew” in good fun. Then, Dow shares a series of tips like:

  • - Ask a pickleball girl on a date
  • - Have a pickleball court at your house
  • - Be rich like Dow

I think it’s safe to say that Dow loves satire. Then, he shares the winning move, which he affectionately calls “The Forearm Shove.”

Dow proceeds to teach the move where he’s playing mixed doubles with Walker, a ball comes, he shoves her out of the way with his forearm, then hits a big forehand shot while flexing. Walker is supposed to be utterly enthralled at his flexed arm muscle.

The whole tip is a spoof on an extremely common occurrence in mixed doubles - the man being a ball hog. But, Dow put his own spin on it by using the strategy as a way to attract a woman’s attention. It’s as funny as it is a little accurate.

Here’s a genuine tip for men: “The Forearm Shove” isn't the best strategy to pick up the ladies, but a casual arm flex never hurt anybody.
