Injury concerns keep Serena Williams away from pickleball
Tennis legend Serena Williams isn't a pickleball fan.
The 23-time Grand Slam champion made that crystal clear during a recent appearance on “Good Sports with Kevin Hart and Kenan Thompson” on Amazon Prime Video.
"Serena, I know this is highly controversial, but I have to ask anyway," said Hart. "Are you pro-pickleball?"

Williams cringed in response to the question.
Then, came her reply.
"I’m a tennis player, you know, and so I love padel. I love tennis, but only because I hurt myself playing pickle. And I’m used to playing with tennis rackets, and that pickleball racket is actually way heavier than a tennis racket, if you can imagine, it’s way smaller," she said. "And so ever since I kind of hurt myself, I’ve been like, meh. But yeah, I love padel. I think it’s so fun."
Hart jumped on that statement right away.
"Well, you heard it here first pickleball community, Serena Williams hates you!" he quipped. "I mean, I don't know what's happening here, but whatever. It's breaking on this show, breaking news."
Hopefully, Williams gives America's fastest-growing sport another shot someday.
If she plays without getting injured, she might just change her tune.
