Legendary Fortnite player Tfue talks pickleball: 'I had my fair share of getting whooped by the elderly'

Turner Tenney—known as “Tfue” online—is one of the biggest streamers and gamers around, best known for playing Fortnite.

He's also a pickleball addict like the rest of us.

“I’ve been playing for two years now. My buddies invited me to go play, but I wasn’t really into the idea of it until they got me playing. When I actually played it, I fell in love with it, and I’ve been hooked ever since,” explained Tenney. “I live in a beach town in Florida, so the pickleball courts were all older people. I had my fair share of getting whooped by the elderly.”

Tenney attended the Jenius Bank Pickleball World Championships to spectate and play in the Celebrity Pickleball Showdown with stars like Anna Leigh Waters, Anna Bright, and Ben Johns.

While his DUPR says that he’s a 4.4 in singles, he was perfectly comfortable sharing the court with the best in the business.

“I’m actually not intimidated to play them because I have nothing to lose and everything to gain,” he mentioned. “If they get a point on me, that’s to be expected, but if I get a point on them, that’s a big deal for me.”

What’s his signature shot?

“The third shot drive,” revealed Tenney.

Interestingly enough, his gaming skills come in handy in pickleball too.

“You have to make the right decisions in a short period of time. When you’re playing games, it’s a lot of decision making, especially in battle royales. I think pickleball is similar in that sense because you have to consider whether to hit a drive, dink, or speed up,” noted Tenney. “It’s just a lot of making the right decisions in a short amount of time.”

Fortnite recently added an impressive pickleball court to a new map.

They even have a Championship Court setup, similar to a PPA tournament.

“It looks so cool, but I wish you could actually play pickleball on it instead of fighting people on it,” joked Tenney.

Nevertheless, Fortnite is still missing a pickleball skin and emote.

If there was one, what would it look like?

“It would look like a tennis skin, but it would have a pickleball paddle and emote where they throw it or break the paddle,” described Tenney. “Something dramatic if things don’t go well.”

Tenney also shared his dream Fortnite squad featuring pro pickleball players. They include Johns, Hayden Patriquin, and Hunter Johnson.

In the comments, Rachel Rohrabacher indicated that she’s an avid player as well and would like to join the group.

Johns also recently showcased his emote at the Veolia Lakeland Open.

I think we’d all enjoy an epic stream with our favorite pros battling it out on the virtual stage.
