Matthew, Camila McConaughey play pickleball pantsless in tequila ad

DALLAS, TX – Well, this is interesting.

Actor Matthew McConaughey and his wife, Camila, recently shared a new ad for their tequila company, Pantalones, that undoubtedly earned the brand some extra attention.

I know that "pantalones" is Spanish for "pants," which I think we all can agree is an incredibly random name for this business endeavor.

But I guess so is pickleball, so perhaps that’s a perfect match for McConaughey.

The ad features the couple clad in white racket sports attire setting up a bar cart on a pickleball court. McConaughey says, “Is après-pickleball even a thing? Well, it is now.”

Camila then shares the recipe for the Pantalones pickle margarita:

  • - Half cup of ice
  • - 3 jalapeños
  • - 1 ounce Pantalones Organic Tequila
  • - 1 ounce pickle juice
  • - 0.5 ounce lime juice and agave
  •

It sounds like the perfect drink with Cinco de Mayo coming up this weekend!

The real kicker, however, is the end of the ad where the McConaugheys play pickleball pantsless. The lower half of their bodies are blurred, of course, but they’re still dinking away like it's just another day.

This is actually one of several pantsless ad campaigns for the tequila company, who promised the majority of their ads will follow that script in 2024.

Talk about a cheeky ad...

“With the explosion in popularity of tequila, there’s a level of snootiness that’s crept into the category. People now talk about tequila the way they talk about wine. While we’re all for being passionate about tequila, we wanted to remind people that, above all, it’s meant to be fun,” shared McConaughey in a statement.

Though I didn’t think I’d ever have to write this: please don’t play pickleball pantsless.

If you do, you probably had too much tequila.
