Pickleball comedy 'The Dink' debuts on Apple TV in July

Ben Stiller shared a sneak peek of his new Apple Original Films project The Dink on Wednesday.

Set to premiere on Apple TV worldwide on July 24, the sports comedy stars Jake Johnson, Mary Steenburgen, Ed Harris, along with cameos from Stiller and tennis legends Andy Roddick and John McEnroe. The cast also includes Chloe Fineman, Aaron Chen, Patton Oswalt, Chris Parnell, and Christine Taylor.

The Dink centers on Dusty Boyd (Johnson), a former tennis prodigy now reduced to coaching at his father Chuck’s (Harris) country club.

As the venue undergoes major changes with the rapid rise of pickleball overtaking the tennis courts, Chuck digs in against what he sees as a passing fad—a stance Dusty shares, hoping to finally earn his father’s approval.

But when an old injury flares up and takes tennis off the table for good, Dusty reluctantly gives pickleball a try. To his surprise, he loves it.

Paired with the upbeat Candace (Steenburgen), Dusty begins to chart a new path forward, one that could reshape the club and redefine his own future.

The Dink was directed Josh Greenbaum and written by Sean Clements.

There’s no trailer for the movie just yet.
