How Wringer Wear is redefining athletic performance on the court

Out of all the pickleball outfits in my closet, not one has ever felt like it gave me a true advantage on the court. Most court apparel focuses on style and performance, but rarely anything beyond that. That changed when I discovered Wringer Wear, an athleticwear brand designed to give pickleball players a real competitive edge.

I recently sat down with co-founder Wendi Aspes to learn more about the inspiration behind this innovative company and how it’s changing the game for pickleball players everywhere.

“Wringer has a patented fabric built into our men’s and women’s bottoms that are basically like a towel, and you can wipe your hands while you’re playing and it absorbs the sweat and evaporates. All our outer fabrics are hydrophobic, so water repels off of them and you’re not sitting in any heavy moisture. Basically, it just gives you that little bit of an edge so you’re not thinking about when you’re going to get to your towel for relief during a game,” explained Aspes. “Think about the amount of research and money people spend on their paddles and shoes, all with the purpose of having them perform better, so why can’t your clothes help you perform better?”

Aspes and her brother-in-law, Jason Aspes, first came up with the idea in 2020 after buying a pickleball net for the driveway and quickly becoming hooked on the sport.

As a former tennis player turned pickleball enthusiast, Wendi realized there was something missing from traditional athletic apparel.

“My clothes looked great and fit well, but they never actually enhanced my performance or gave me a competitive advantage — and that’s exactly what Wringer does,” she mentioned. “It took us a lot of years. We had a lot of prototypes and different partners we worked with, and it just wasn’t right. This is my second act in life and my new career path. I wasn’t going to put my name, energy, or time into something that wasn’t going to be great.”

The final product has proven so effective that even top pickleball athletes, including Roscoe Bellamy, proudly wear the brand.

“Seeing the pros wear Wringer proves we have an edge. We can help these amazing professional players who do everything to get themselves ready to compete at the highest level,” she said. “To have the pros wearing it, it really validates what kind of performance edge this gear can give you. When you have a pro at the highest level who has the option to wear whatever they want and they choose Wringer, it’s awesome for us.”

And if the brand is trusted by some of the best players in the world, it’s easy to see why it appeals to athletes of every level — from elite professionals to everyday recreational players.

“At any level, whether it’s at the pro level or the local court, everybody wants to have a little bit of an edge,” concluded Aspes. “Everyone wants to play with a Wringer. That’s where we come in.”
