Jackie Redmond, Emmett Blois serve up style with Good Dink pickleball apparel brand
NHL and WWE broadcaster Jackie Redmond and her husband, Emmett Blois, discovered a love for pickleball during a trip to Florida in 2023.
After returning home to Nova Scotia, Blois rapidly elevated his game and channeled that passion into launching a distinctive pickleball-inspired clothing brand.
“During this process of falling in love with pickleball, it got me thinking, ‘I want to create something really cool for pickleball,’ and that’s where Good Dink came in,” confirmed Blois.
Redmond’s mother, Shelly, who previously worked in retail, joined the team as Good Dink’s apparel buyer to help launch the new line. Blois and Redmond credit her with leading market research and reviewing lookbooks.
Drawing on the Redmond expertise in womenswear, trends, and styling, the duo built a pickleball brand for players seeking high-quality, functional pieces with a sharp edge.
“We want to be the fun, edgy pickleball crew,” emphasized Redmond. “This is a brand for the players. This is clothing that players are comfortable wearing in the game. We have pro players out here wearing and testing things out.”
Good Dink generates most of its sales by setting up booths at local tournaments, some of which the brand hosts, allowing customers to see, feel, and engage with the apparel in person.
“We really drive home that the quality of our clothing is good,” said Redmond. “It’s not just a fun logo on cheap material.”
Blois set out to design effortlessly cool apparel he’d want to wear on the court, with versatility as the top priority in his approach to men’s athleticwear.
“I look for breathable, durable, and clothes that are also kind of neat. A lot of my pickleball clothing is multi-purpose,” he mentioned. “For us guys, we’ll wear the same article of clothing to the gym, the grocery store, and the pickleball court. We’ll wear it all day, so I look for something comfortable and good enough to wear all day long. I’m all about being functional.”
“He’s functional and I’m aesthetics,” added Redmond.
In addition to feedback from local pros, Redmond plays a major role in product testing.
It’s a natural fit, given her enthusiasm for both fashion and pickleball.
“I’m like the guinea pig of sorts, and it is important to have a passion for clothing because Emmett doesn’t know what girls are wearing, what girls like, or what it means to have shorts under your skirt that are too tight or ride up,” said Redmond. “To have me here to try them on and play in them before we order 50 of them is really important. I always say that I may not win a medal, but I will be the best dressed person here.”
And with a wide range of skirts, shorts, tops, dresses, and jackets, the brand offers fashionable, functional options for every type of pickleball player.
