Good Surf brings surfing, pickleball together in Dallas
What do you get when you combine good food, a wave pool, live music, and pickleball courts? Good Surf in the Deep Ellum neighborhood of Dallas.
While I’m especially interested in the courts, this place has other activities that make it stand out in a sea of fresh pickleball social spaces.
The aesthetic is best described as laid back Southern California cool with painted skateboards hanging on the walls that resemble a beach shack in the best way. The exterior features bright umbrellas, pool side cabanas, and TVs to watch the game.
Honestly, it’s a perfect Saturday hangout spot that’s unlike anything currently offered in the city.
Players can reserve a court, book a beginner surf session with a coach, or ride solo if they’re advanced, and enjoy all that Good Surf has to offer. Complete with fun, beachy drinks and DJ sets, this place is set up for success.
It’s absolutely the kind of place that RAD Pickleball would love.
While surfing and pickleball might seem like a random pairing, it actually makes sense.
“Pickleball is to tennis what snowboarding was to skiing back in the day,” said Jeremey Neff, the founder and CEO of Stack Athletics.
Pickleball is the young, scrappy sport that's shaking things up from the traditional sport that came before it. And as much as the old-school tennis players try to deny it, pickleball is here to stay. And pickleball courts fit much easier in a beer garden than a tennis court ever would.
Dallas locals regularly gather around the Good Surf pickleball courts to play a couple of games, then have dinner, and hang out with friends.
It has curated a good vibe for pickleballers.
