Now, let’s get into what to watch for.

  • In the biggest news of the morning so far, No. 8 seed Noe Khlif has withdrawn from the singles competition with an illness. This means that Rafael Lenhard, who beat Edward Perez in the first round and is fresh off a title at the Raleigh PPA Challenge, will advance to the Round of 16. The No. 28 seed will face either Lucky Loser Caleb Herrick or Tom Protzek with a spot in the quarterfinals on the line.
  •
  • Also look out for the potential Round of 16 clash between No. 4 seed Chris Haworth and No. 17 seed Eric Oncins. These two faced off at the most recent tournament in Lakeland, with Oncins advancing after a three-game epic. The Brazilian will look to replicate that success against the always-dangerous Haworth, if both players reach the final 16.
  •
  • In the women’s singles draw, top seed Kaitlyn Christian will look to defend her crown after taking gold in Daytona in 2024. Familiar faces like Anna Leigh Waters, Kate Fahey, Brooke Buckner, and Parris Todd are not in the draw this week, but Christian could be challenged by the likes of Lea Jansen, Catherine Parenteau, and Genie Bouchard in the later rounds.
