Alshon defeats Sock in Round of 16
PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA – Christian Alshon defeated Jack Sock 11-9, 11-4 in the Round of 16 on Thursday at the Vizzy Atlanta Open.
For Alshon, it was an important victory over the former tennis pro.
“Last time, I couldn’t close it out. It was my first time I’d ever played him in singles or doubles, so there was that slight intimidation factor, but today was a different story,” said Alshon. “This time, I went in knowing I could beat him.”
He will face Connor Garnett in the quarterfinals on Friday.
“I feel great going into [the match]. It’s actually kind of nice when you have tough matches early on because then the later matches don’t feel as tough,” explained Alshon.
