Anna Leigh Waters Sweeps the Competition in Vegas, Secures 37th Triple Crown

World No. 1 Anna Leigh Waters once again proved why she’s the face of modern pickleball, earning her 37th career Triple Crown — and her sixth of 2025 — by following up her mixed doubles win this morning with commanding victories in women’s singles and women’s doubles at the Rate Vegas Cup.

Waters, who was the top seed in all three divisions, lost just one game out of nine played on Championship Sunday, capping one of her most dominant tournament performances of the season.

Doubles Redemption with Bright

In women’s doubles, Waters took the court with her usual partner-in-crime Anna Bright, and the “Annas” delivered another gold medal performance — though not without a little early adversity. Facing #3 seeds Tyra Black and Parris Todd, Waters and Bright dropped the opening game before storming back to win the match and secure the title.

Afterward, Waters laughed about the lone blemish on an otherwise flawless day:

“I think Anna and I were a little upset we didn’t win that first game, with that ball in the middle,” Waters joked. “We were both like, ‘why didn’t one of us go for it?’ But Tyra and Parris were playing absolutely amazing.”

The win marks their fifth gold of 2025 and Waters’ eleventh women's doubles title of the year. The duo’s chemistry continues to define women’s doubles, with their complementary styles and steady dominance cementing them as the tour’s top team.

Singles Brilliance Against a Surging Bouchard

In women’s singles, Waters took on former pro tennis star Genie Bouchard, who made an eye-catching run as the #11 seed, defeating #7 Catherine Parenteau#14 Jorja Johnson, and #2 Kate Fahey to reach her first PPA final and capture her first-ever medal on tour.

But on finals day, Waters was untouchable. She closed out Bouchard 11-5, 11-5 with her trademark precision and poise.

The victory extends Waters’ finals winning streak to 44 straight — she hasn’t lost a singles final since June 2022 to Parris Todd — and improves her career singles finals record to 55-3. She has now won 17 consecutive tournaments dating back to mid 2024.

Composure, Confidence, and 1,000 Matches of Experience

Asked how she continues to handle the pressure of dominance, Waters gave credit to the vast amount of time she's spent competing, citing that her team calculated she's played over 1,000 matches. She went on to say that it's easier for her to focus and execute because she has so much experience and gave kudos to her opponent, acknowledging that Bouchard has played way fewer matches, but has still managed to find tremendous success in pickleball.

A Career That Keeps Rewriting the Record Books

With this weekend’s sweep, Waters now owns 165 career titles, including 55 in singles, 53 in doubles, and 57 in mixed, along with her 37 Triple Crowns and 11 “Double Triples” shared with Ben Johns.

She’s also one of only four women in PPA history to win consecutive singles titles across multiple years, joining Simone Jardim (2020)Catherine Parenteau (2021, 2023), and Brooke Buckner (2024).

Waters’ consistency and dominance show no signs of slowing. As the PPA season rolls on, she continues to redefine greatness one gold medal at a time.
