Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Taylor Swift are Waters' dream pickleball students

PickleballTV analyst Matt Manasse asked Anna Leigh Waters a rather interesting question following Friday’s mixed doubles quarterfinal match at the CIBC Atlanta Slam presented by Vizzy.

"I was on your Instagram. I see that you have not taught a pickleball lesson for the last three years, but for the right price, you would get back out there. I want to know what that price is? Is it $500? Is it $5,000? I know Patrick Mouratoglou teaches lessons for $7,500 an hour. I’ve got to know."

If anyone could name their price for lessons, it would obviously be Waters or her mixed doubles partner, Ben Johns, given their insane shot-making repertoires and world-class championship resumes.

The 17-year-old didn’t actually provide a dollar figure to Manasse, though, electing instead to discuss why she hasn’t been teaching over the last 36 months.

"I think probably if I get out on the court, it would be more like a clinic because you can make more bang for your buck in that sense of teaching. But, teaching just really isn’t my thing," said Waters. "I know some people really like it, but a lot of the time I don’t really know how I hit half the shots that I hit, I just hit them. I’m like, 'Wait, why can’t you hit that shot?'"

Sounds like a reasonable explanation to me.

Waters didn't rule out teaching altogether, however, since she genuinely appreciates sharing the intricacies of the sport with youngsters whenever possible.

"What I enjoy the most is teaching kids. I love doing that. I’ve done a couple of kids clinics with YMCAs recently. I want to do more of that, so I really enjoy coaching kids and teaching them the game," she mentioned. "But, as far as older adults go, I don’t know, it's not really my thing. I’ll leave that to Ben. I’ll take the kids, Ben can take the adults."

Manasse then added another line of inquiry, which was initially voiced by Johns moments earlier.

This is where things got cute.

"Who’s the dream celebrity client?" he asked. "How can we get this done?"

"For men, Chris Hemsworth or Chris Evans. Either one. Any of "The Chrises" to be honest," she replied. "As far as women go, Taylor Swift would be awesome. That one would be harder than "The Chrises" I think."

"Maybe the "Coach to the Stars" could hook you up with one of those," interjected Johns with a smile, referencing Manasse's nickname.

"Matt, you need to hook me up," mentioned Waters. "I’ll do it for free. You can take all the money. I’ll just be there and have fun."

We can't wait for it.
