Christian ousts Parenteau to make semifinals
OVERLAND PARK, KS - Kaitlyn Christian is into the semifinals of the Selkirk Kansas City Open after an 11-2, 5-11, 11-5 victory over top-seeded Catherine Parenteau.
The No. 5 seed found success coming into the net at nearly every opportunity. A combination of precise volleys and impressive anticipation allowed the former top-40 WTA tennis player to gain control of rallies from the kitchen line, which proved to be difference-maker down the stretch.
Christian is looking to capture her first PPA title after having already earned both silver and bronze medals during the 2024 season.
She now finds herself just one win away from the final.
Standing in between Christian and a Championship Sunday appearance is No. 3 seed Brooke Buckner, who defeated Judit Castillo in two games in the quarterfinals.
