Fahey downs Devidze to reach women's singles final
Kate Fahey closed out Thursday’s action on Humana Championship Court at Courts of McKinney with an 11-6, 11-7 victory over No. 6 seed Salome Devidze.
These two faced off in the quarterfinals last week in Cape Coral, with Fahey emerging victorious in three games.
The No. 4 seed needed only two games on Thursday.
Fahey earned a 6-0 advantage in the opening game, thanks to four missed returns from her opponent. Devidze then went on a run of her own to tie it at 6-6, before Fahey closed out the game with another run of five points.
Fahey continued having success finishing points at the kitchen line in Game 2 and was able to maintain her form, even through a lengthy stoppage in play where Devidze called in Head Referee Don Stanley to review (and eventually overturn) a line call.
“I think I’m at my best when I’m fiery but calm,” Fahey shared after the fact. “Especially with the overturn, I probably would have argued it and could have done something, but honestly I think I’m at my best when I’m calm.”
Remaining calm (by her standards) helped Fahey close out the match a few minutes later and advance to her first final of the 2025 season.
She will face Anna Leigh Waters on Championship Sunday.
