Frazier, Johnson win third straight gold in men's doubles
ROCKWALL, TX – Dylan Frazier and JW Johnson continue their run of success in men’s doubles on the pro pickleball court. On the Humana Championship Court at the CIBC Texas Open Powered by TIXR, the two seeds faced off against the 4 seeds who upset their way to Championship Sunday, Matt Wright and Dekel Bar.
The final score was 9-11, 11-3, 11-5, 11-4.
“We just had to be patient because they both had hands, great counters, and we all played well the entire tournament,” said Johnson.
Wright and Bar previously upset the No. 1 seeded Ben and Collin Johns in the semi-finals. So, no matter the outcome, it was going to be a fire fight of a match. With powerful drives, hands battles, and quite a few lobs from Johnson.
“My mom’s probably super excited that I pulled out a few lobs and other shots we’ve been working on,” shared Johnson.
This marks their third straight title in men’s doubles. And, they got to win the victory live on Fox National. Not a bad stage for a gold medal winning performance.
These two are having continued success with no signs of slowing down.
“I couldn’t ask for a better partner in JW. We just have so much fun together on the court and we’re going to keep going for gold next week in Sacramento,” said Frazier.
