Ge, Martinez Vich sprint to Championship Sunday
CARY, NC - The dream run continues for Augie Ge and Jaume Martinez Vich.
The No. 14 seeds took down No. 3 seeds Federico Staksrud and Pablo Tellez 11-7, 11-5 to make it to the final in their first tournament playing together.
This is their third top-10 win of the tournament.
Martinez Vich was especially impressive on the left side and didn’t let Staksrud and Tellez settle into their preferred dinking patterns at the kitchen line.
He credits the time he’s spent studying doubles film for his success in North Carolina.
“I’ve been trying to focus a lot on getting away from my tennis roots,” he explained. “Lately, I’ve been watching film and seeing what I can do in terms of patterns in doubles, and it’s working really well.”
Ge and Martine Vich will take on top-seeded Ben and Collin Johns in the final.
