Gender doubles propels Miami to victory over SoCal
The second Challenger level semifinal series began just like the first: with a 3-0 sweep.
The Miami Pickleball Club earned a comprehensive victory over the SoCal Hard Eights, thanks in large part to gender doubles triumphs from the pairings of Milan Rane/Bobbi Oshiro and Noe Khlif/Eric Oncins to open the match.
Miami was a combined 0-4 in those gender doubles matchups against SoCal across their last two meetings, but the south Florida squad didn’t let that deter them on Friday.
After securing those wins, Oshiro/Khlif closed out the sweep with a 25-19 victory over Irina Tereschenko/Max Manthou in the first mixed doubles game.
The Hard Eights will look to rebound with their backs against the wall on Saturday, with Match 2 of this series beginning after the conclusion of the second bout between the Chicago Slice and Atlanta Bouncers.
