Glozman, Patriquin just too hot to handle, down second-seeded Bright and Ignatowich
SAN CLEMENTE, CA - The 16th-seeded tandem of Vivian Glozman and Hayden Patriquin made headlines with a major upset on Thursday at the Select Medical Orange County Cup presented by FitVine Wines.
Glozman and Patriquin defeated second-seeded Anna Bright and James Ignatowich 11-6, 11-4 to advance to the quarterfinals in mixed doubles.
"I just want to thank Hayden for taking over and doing everything," said Glozman. "He always brings the fire, always brings the good energy."
Patriquin, 18, is flying high after earning a gold medal in gender doubles alongside Federico Staksrud earlier this month at the Veolia Sacramento Open.
"Getting that gold definitely upped my confidence. I'm just playing a lot better now, more consistent," he said. "I really love playing with Viv. She takes all the overheads, so it's great."
Sounds like a good combination.
