Hangzhou Open Championship Recap: A. Truong shines with two titles as Do, H. Truong take men’s doubles gold
PPA Tour Asia’s Hangzhou Open came to a close early Saturday morning with gold medal and bronze medal action in all five pro divisions.
Alix Truong had a standout performance, striking gold in both women’s doubles and mixed doubles.
In women’s, she and Zoey Wang defeated Sarah Burr/Jamie Haas 11-8, 11-6; in mixed, she and Federico Staksrud defeated Nikita Tang/Eunggwon Kim 11-9, 11-1 to give Truong her fifth and sixth medals in Asia this year.
“This is pretty awesome. I had expectations coming into the tournament, so obviously it’s really nice to fulfill that,” she said afterwards. “Traveling all the way across the world, it’s not easy to grind through these conditions and through the entire week with amazing coopetition around us from all different countries and continents. I’m happy to have won a title in both categories.”
In men’s doubles, Quan Do/Hien Truong ended their impressive run with a 10-12, 11-6, 11-5 victory over Federico Staksrud/Armaan Bhatia in the final.
“What an amazing week for Hien and me,” Do said. “We have been practicing a lot to prepare for this tournament, and we’re so proud of this result.”
The singles finals saw Sahra Dennehy and Hoang Nam Ly each capture titles; Dennehy defeated Zoey Wang 11-7, 11-2 to earn her third consecutive international PPA singles title, while Ly took down Jack Wong 11-4, 11-4 to secure his first career PPA Tour Asia title.
This event closes out the 2025 tournament schedule for PPA Tour Asia, with the next PPA action in the US scheduled for Dec. 16-21 at the Florida Dairy Farmers Daytona Beach Open.
