Johnson in for Buckner, Schneemann to replace Devidze in women’s singles
Jorja Johnson and Lacy Schneemann will now compete in women’s singles at this week’s CIBC PPA Tour Finals and replace Brooke Buckner and Salome Devidze, who will both miss the event with injuries.
Johnson will take Buckner’s spot in the Erne Pool and compete against Catherine Parenteau, Kaitlyn Christian, and Mary Brascia.
The 18-year-old—who captured bronze in women’s singles earlier this year in Austin—now joins the aforementioned Parenteau, Anna Leigh Waters, Ben Johns, and Federico Staksrud as the only players to qualify for the finals in singles, mixed doubles, and gender doubles.
Schneemann will take Devidze’s place in the ATP Pool that also features Waters, Kate Fahey, and Parris Todd.
She also has one women’s singles medal on the year, coming away with bronze at the Veolia Houston Open back in April.
Funnily enough, Schneemann and Johnson will share the court together this week as women’s doubles partners, too.
Play starts at 10am PT on Wednesday on Pickleballtv and the PPA YouTube.
