MLP Premier Trade: McGuffin to Orlando, Devilliers to Utah
DALLAS, TX - It’s been less than a week since the MLP Premier Level draft, and we’ve already got our first trade of the season.
The Utah Black Diamonds sent Tyson McGuffin to the Orlando Squeeze in exchange for Jay Devilliers and $50,000.
The Black Diamonds moved McGuffin after he refused to play alongside Utah native Tyler Loong due to a history of "bad blood" off the court and on-court banter.
Meanwhile, McGuffin and his new Orlando teammate, Federico Staksrud, have extensive experience playing together from their time with Miami Pickleball Club last season.
The trade also sets Devilliers up to play mixed doubles with Callie Smith, who he’s partnered with at every PPA event so far this year.
Here’s what each team’s roster looks like after the trade:
Utah Black Diamonds
Jay Devilliers
Callie Smith
Tyler Loong
Alix Truong
Orlando Squeeze
Federico Staksrud
Vivienne David
Tyson McGuffin
Parris Todd
