With that in mind, here are a few new items to MLP this year:
-
MLP presented by DoorDash: The league rebranded to MLP presented by DoorDash in early April as part of a multi-year agreement that represented the largest sponsor deal in MLP history.
-
Side Out Scoring: MLP will use side out scoring for Gendered & Mixed Doubles. Those Games will be played to 11, with a winning margin of at least two. DreamBreakers will use rally scoring and be played to 21, with players switching out every four points. The freeze will remain at game point, while the DreamBreaker must be won on serve.
-
Expanded Premier Rosters: Premier team rosters expanded from four players to six, with each team having three men and women. Teams may use bench players, as they will declare which combination of two men and women they will have in their starting lineup the day before each scheduled match day.
-
Standings and “Dash to the Playoffs”: A total of three standings points are earned in regular season matches. A regulation win is three points, a DreamBreaker win is two points, a DreamBreaker loss is one point, and a regulation loss is zero points. The 10 Premier teams with the most points at the end of the regular season will earn entry into the 2025 MLP Playoffs. All six Challenger teams will earn entry into the 2025 MLP Playoffs.
-
Saturday and Sunday Night Pickleball: A new premium matchup showcase will feature on-site and viewer enhancements to give these matches an elevated feel – a thrilling crowd atmosphere, production enhancements, and teams wearing specially designed alternate uniforms.
-
Team Rebrands: Five MLP teams underwent brand changes ahead of the 2025 campaign.
-
Premier: Brooklyn Pickleball Team (formerly DC Pickleball Team); Carolina Hogs (formerly Pickleball Club); Phoenix Flames (formerly AZ Drive)
-
Challenger: D.C. Pickleball Team (formerly Brooklyn Aces); Nashville Chefs (formerly Frisco Pandas)
