Orlando Squeeze win April Fool’s Day
DALLAS, TX - It’s 7:48am local Central time, and I’m ready to call it: the Orlando Squeeze have won April Fool’s Day 2024.
Scrolling through Instagram walking into work, I came across an early-morning post from the Squeeze that caught my eye.
The Majesty Building, also endearingly referred to by central Florida residents as the ‘I-4 Eyesore,' has been under construction since 2001 and isn’t thought to be near completion.
So, to see news of a pro pickleball team purchasing it seemed like a pretty big deal.
‘Wow, another example of the power of pickleball,’ is what I initially thought as I geared up to write an actual news story.
But a few moments of looking at comments from folks who are evidently brighter than myself made me realize that I had been got.
Yeah. I had been got on April 1.
As great as it would be to have an 18-story building dedicated to pickleball—equipped with a juicery, of all things—it looks like we’ll have to wait for that news to come on literally any other day of the year. One can hope, right?
In the meantime, though, we’ve gotta give credit where it’s due. Well done, Orlando.
We'll see if they crush their picks in Tuesday's MLP Premier Level draft as much as they crushed the social media game Monday morning.
