Panas Malaysia Open pro brackets revealed for PPA Tour Asia debut
Pickleball is ready to arrive in Asia as the Panas Malaysia Open 2025 has unveiled its pro main draw.
The tournament runs Thursday, July 3 through Sunday, July 6 at 9Pickle in Setia Alam and marks PPA Tour Asia’s maiden stop.
Dikosavljevic leads Malaysia field
Australia’s Andie Dikosavljevic headlines the pro women’s singles draw, riding high after an impressive start to 2025. The Aussie claimed bronze at January’s PPA Tour Australia Pickleball Open – the USA circuit’s first-ever international event – and has since dominated the Australian tour with two singles gold medals. Consistency and top billing makes her the player to beat in Malaysia.
Meanwhile, China’s Yufei Long enters with serious credentials after capturing the PPA Challenger Baton Rouge title, proving her singles skills under podium pressure. The field, however, runs deep with Vietnam’s Ken Tam and Japan’s Rika Fujiwara among those eyeing upset victories and a shot at the inaugural PPA Tour Asia title.
Wong Hong Kit tops draw and looks to doubles down
In the pro men’s singles bracket, Wong Hong Kit from Hong Kong, China sits at the top following a dominant run through PPA Tour Australia in recent months. The rapidly rising star swept both the Gold Coast Slam and Tweed Heads Cup singles titles this year, and now he looks to flex his footwork in Asia. His recent form also includes claiming his maiden pro men’s doubles title alongside Kim Eunggwon at the Gold Coast Slam; a partnership that will once again be hitting the courts in Malaysia.
Trailblazers return home
Malaysian fans will be packing 9Pickle to support Jimmy Liong and Mia Athilla. The local stars are returning home after their transformative three-month USA training stint as part of the UPA Asia Trailblazers Program. With new-found experience in the bank and the audience in their corner, both will be eyeing breakthrough performances.
Long and Wei on opposite sides
The pro women’s doubles draw delivers instant drama with Orange County Cup quarterfinalists Yufei Long and Jamie Wei now competing on opposite halves. The pair made headlines earlier this month with their stunning upset over No.4 seeds Jorja Johnson and Lacy Schneemann on American courts. In Malaysia, the dream duo turn to rivals as Wei now partners with USA’s Xiao Yi Wang-Beckvall, while Long teams up with Korea’s Kwon Mihae.
Pro qualifying and amateur events begin Thursday, building toward Sunday’s finals day when champions will be crowned. Tickets are available here.
