Patriquin and Staksrud, Johns and Johns to battle for men's doubles gold
Hayden Patriquin and Federico Staksrud booked their spots in the men’s doubles final with a 7-11, 11-6, 11-5 victory over No. 2 seeds JW Johnson and Dylan Frazier.
The No. 3 seeds dropped Game 1 on Humana Championship Court, but they certainly found their form as the match raged on.
“I think we were a little tight in the first game,” Patriquin said after the fact. “We were missing a few dinks and leaving a couple balls high for JW, and that’s not usually good. We just had to lock in and play a little smarter in the second and third games.”

This tandem has yet to lose together and is now one win away from claiming title No. 2 on the year.
We’re feeling good,” Staksrud mentioned. “We have good chemistry: I know what [Hayden’s] gonna do, and he knows what I’m gonna do, which works well. Pickleball is so fast now that you need to have that understanding with your partner.”
They will facer Ben and Collin Johns in the final.
The Johns brothers emerged victorious from a highly entertaining clash against No. 9 seeds Riley Newman and Rafa Hewett by an 11-2, 4-11, 11-6 score line.
In front of a raucous, heavily pro Newman/Hewett crowd, the top seeds overcame some incredible gets and athleticism from their opponents to clinch the win and make their eighth final of the year together.
“It felt more like we were at a carnival at times there, so just happy to walk away with the win,” said C. Johns. “We knew that those guys were going to bring energy, so you never know what can happen. It got a little wild there in the second game, but we regrouped and figured it out there in Game 3.”
Sunday’s final will mark the first time that the Johns bros are playing against Staksrud and Patriquin.
C. Johns is looking forward to the encounter.
“We’ve played each of them separately several times this year, but Hayden’s been playing really well as well as Fed,” he mentioned. “They have some wins over us this year, so it should definitely be a good matchup.”
